Florida Governor Offers Signing Bonus for Unvaccinated Cops

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is killing two birds with one stone in a new bid to entice police officers to relocate to the Sunshine State: he’s offering unvaccinated cops $5,000 to move to Florida.

“So NYPD, Minneapolis, Seattle, if you’re not being treated well, we’ll treat you better here,” DeSantis told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo. “You can fill important needs for us, and we’ll compensate you as a result.”

Vaccinated cops are also welcome to relocate to Florida and will receive the same bonus.

“These people we’ve been hailing as heroes, the nurses we’ve said have been heroes this whole time,” continued DeSantis. “They couldn’t do their jobs on Zoom. They had to be there, and they did it with honor and integrity. Now you have people that want to kick them out of their job over this shot, which is basically a personal decision?”

Florida’s economy has bounced back quickly from the pandemic in no small part thanks to its loose restrictions on masks and vaccines. Hotel revenue was up 11% in August compared to last year and more than 40% of all jobs added in the US in September were added in Florida. The state now has between 400,000 and 500,000 job openings.

Governor DeSantis has also offered to help resolve supply chain issues by welcoming ships that usually dock in California and Georgia.

“We’re really proud of our seaports,” said DeSantis. “Since I’ve been governor, we’ve invested about $1 billion into modernizing them and making them even more effective, so we have capacity.”

In an additional move against the Biden Administration’s plan to impose vaccine mandates on all businesses with 100 or more employees, the Florida Legislature is planning a special session to ban vaccine mandates for business, schools, and government agencies. “In Florida our policy is very clear: we’re going to have a special session, and we’re going to say, nobody should lose their job based off these injections. It’s a choice you can make. But we want to make sure we’re protecting your jobs and your livelihoods.”

State lawmakers will need to approve legislation for DeSantis’s offer to police to take effect.

Author’s Note: DeSantis is a genius. While other states are punishing police officers for standing up for their rights, DeSantis is welcoming them with open arms. We can expect to see a mass exodus of cops from liberal strongholds like California, Oregon, and Chicago.
