Uh-Oh: Biden to View China with ‘Strategic Patience’
China is continuing its pattern of debt diplomacy, human rights abuses, theft, and other violations of international law. Meanwhile, President Biden is saying that we should view the Communist regime that wants to conquer the world ‘with patience.’
“Beijing is now challenging our security, prosperity, and values in significant ways that require a new US approach. And this is one of the reasons that we want to approach this with some strategic patience, and we want to conduct reviews internally,” said White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki last Thursday.
Until now, the Biden Administration had stated that it would maintain President Trump’s tough stance towards China. So-called “strategic patience” sounds more like President Obama’s policy towards North Korea. That ended up being so passive that it did nothing to slow the peninsula’s nuclear program.
The United States “will need to go through the interagency, so the State Department, the Treasury Department, a number of others, who will review how we move forward. We’re starting from an approach of patience as it relates to our relationship with China,” continued Psaki. She added that the administraiton will also be seeking advice from lawmakers and international allies.
Next, Psaki said she hadn’t had enough coffee that morning to deliver an energetic address.
Psaki was asked about Huawei (the Chinese telecom company Trump banned from US markets). She said, “The President’s view is that we need to play a better defense, which must include holding China accountable for its unfair and illegal practices and making sure the American technologies aren’t facilitating China’s military buildup.”
It is unclear what Psaki means by “strategic patience.” However, critics have already cited Hunter Biden’s lucrative business dealings in China as one reason President Biden may be acting soft towards Beijing. The truth is, China wants to take over the United States and a weak US Government will make that objective easier.
