85 Sharia Courts Operate in UK

<p>Sharia law is not restricted to just the territory controlled by terrorist groups in the Middle East&period; In fact&comma; Sharia courts are prominent in one of the United States&rsquo&semi; strongest allies&comma; the UK&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Around 85 Sharia courts are believed to be active in the UK according to research completed by Civitas&period; The courts were created to help Muslims in the community settle financial and domestic disputes in accordance with their faith&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Although supporters of the court do not believe they are feeding into extremism&comma; many of the senior clerics have openly supported Islamic fundamentalism and one cleric has even called for Britain to be turned into a Sharia state&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>These courts administer justice as advised by the Qur&rsquo&semi;an&comma; which often times includes very harsh punishments for crimes including amputation for theft&period; Other issues supported by the clerics of this court include child marriage&comma; marital rape and wife beating&comma; all because the Qu&rsquo&semi;ran writes that these atrocities are legal and just&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>One chilling passage from the Qu&rsquo&semi;ran that addresses wife beating states&comma; &ldquo&semi;Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other&comma; and because they spend their wealth to maintain them&period; Good women are obedient&period; They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them&period; As for those from whom you fear disobedience&comma; admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them&period;&rdquo&semi; &lpar;Qur&rsquo&semi;an 4&colon;34&rpar;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Professor Manea from Zurich University spent four years studying these courts and came to the conclusion that their radical ruling and extreme beliefs encourage &ldquo&semi;political instability and home-grown terrorism&period;&rdquo&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>After the Muslim community expressed outrage at this finding&comma; Manea presented a case that described a woman who was forced to marry her cousin in Pakistan and then raped by him on their wedding night&period; When the woman brought the issue to Sharia court&comma; the clerics rules that rape was not possible between two married individuals&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>When will the British government realize that by allowing these courts to operate in their communities is allowing extremist Islamic views to spread throughout the Western world&quest; It&rsquo&semi;s time to put an end to Sharia courts&comma; not just in the Western world&comma; but the entire world&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
