If President Trump had cured every disease on Earth, ended every international conflict, abolished poverty and stopped the mocking of the fruit cake, the current Democrats would find fault.
Maybe they would say that without disease the world will get overpopulated, ending conflicts will weaken our military and national security, and ending poverty would eliminate the political benefits of welfare dependency. There is no downside in promoting the iconic fruit cake, however.
Trump has had a number of very notable positive achievements for America – and among the most important may be the soon-to-arrive Covid-19 vaccine. We expect to start the first stages of distribution before the end of the year.
Even as some of the vaccines are awaiting the expected final approval of the Federal Drug Administration, manufacturers are pre-emptively building a stockpile of hundreds of millions of vials to be released the day the FDA gives the green light.
It is not possible to vaccinate everyone on day one. And that will give the Trump-haters reason to complain and accuse.
But let us go back a few months – to the start of the pandemic in America. The scientists to whom we are told to listen – such as Dr. Anthony Fauci – told us that it would be years before a vaccine would be ready for distribution. They pointed out that the fastest any vaccine had traveled the regulatory process was FOUR YEARS. Some vaccines took more than ten years.
Trump told the White House Task Force on Covid-19 that four years was not good enough. He and the doctors – and the business community – were assembled under Trump’s Warp Speed Program. Trump told the American public that he believed a vaccine would be developed in a matter of months — maybe by November or the end of 2020.
Fauci was skeptical, but hopeful. He did not discount the possibility. But Democrats and the anti-Trump propaganda press went ballistic. They accused Trump of lying – of attempting to give false hope as a campaign ploy.
They even suggested that Trump would personally authorize an unsafe vaccine before the election. You may recall how Kamala Harris even said that she would not take the vaccine if approved by the Trump administration – so hateful of Trump that she would DISCOURAGE Americans from taking a vaccine when available. How would that help mitigate the pandemic?
But once again, it was the elitist news media that was deceiving the public … lying. And like the Russian conspiracy theory, the Ukraine impeachment fiasco and all the other phony narratives, the months-long reporting on the vaccine has been as vicious and false as the others – devoid of a scintilla of truth.
And the proof is unavoidably noticed by reality. Trump was right. They were wrong – with malice of forethought.
In an effort to save face – or more correctly, remove the egg from their faces – the media folks are now giving negative spin to the fact that vaccination of the general population may not be accomplished until April. GOOD GOD! That is barely over one year since the Covid-19 came to America. That is an astounding accomplishment.
And even before April, millions of Americans will be vaccinated – starting with healthcare workers, other essential workers and those over 65 IN A MATTER OF WEEKS.
Any slowdown may rest at the feet of Democrat governors – such as New York State’s Andrew Cuomo — who have announced that they will not allow their citizens to be vaccinated until a NEW state review board approves the decision by the FDA to authorize the use of the vaccine – delaying the process for potentially several more weeks with more bureaucratic red tape.
Apart from what people may think of Trump on a broad range of issues, there should be universal thanks and praise for what he and his administration have accomplished in terms of the vaccine — which most scientists viewed as the only way to end the pandemic, and not just mitigate its spread and morbidity.
If Democrats and the news media cannot give credit where credit is due, then their pleas for national unity are as bogus as all those past political narratives.
So, there ‘tis.
Author postscript: Since writing this commentary, Moderna has announced a second vaccine that is 94.5 effective. Dr. Anthony Fauci believes that inoculations with these vaccines will start in mid-December – less than a year from the onset of the Pandemic. Trump’s Warp Speed program has pulled off a medical miracle, and yet the hateful media will give him no credit.
