More than 50 Shots Fired at Congressmen on Baseball Field – Rep Steve Scalise Among Wounded
Steve Scalise, the Representative from Louisiana and the majority whip was among 5 people wounded when a gunman opened fire on a baseball practice field in Virginia.
Rep. Mo Brooks said at least five people were shot, including two Capitol police officers. Brooks was with Scalise and used his belt as a tourniquet to help stave the flow of blood from a shot to the hip. Scalise is in stable condition.
Scalise is the 3rd ranking Republican House leader. He was elected to Congress in 2008 after serving in the Louisiana state legislature. The shooting took place at a baseball practice field where Republican members were practicing for their annual baseball game against Democrats scheduled for Thursday.

At this time, no information is available on the shooter. CNN reports witness as saying “white male and a little on the chubby side.”
