Bernie Sanders recently came out against his opponent Hillary Clinton’s husband calling Bill Clinton’s behavior in the past “totally disgraceful”.
Sanders has avoided speaking negatively about Hillary Clinton throughout his campaign, so the remark made towards her husband is certainly out of character for the presidential hopeful.
Speaking at a town hall in Iowa, Sanders remarks came as a response to someone’s comment that Hillary is not fit for presidency because she chose to support her husband through his adulterous and perverted acts. Sanders disagreed with the attendee but saying , “Look, Hillary Clinton is not Bill Clinton,” Sanders said. “But what Bill Clinton did was totally, totally, totally disgraceful and unacceptable. But I am running against Hillary Clinton, not Bill Clinton.”
Many political analysts and candidates from both parties have criticized Bill Clinton’s involvement with his wife’s campaign nothing his history of sexual misconduct and assault. Donald Trump has made it a point to focus on Mr. Clinton’s scandals from the 90s in the recent weeks of his campaign.
Instead of attacking Hillary, Sanders hopes to focus on the issues in his campaign, where he has chosen to stick to the “disappearing middle class” and issue of income inequality.
