At the end of August, it was discovered that Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s former IT staffer may have stolen classified information from Democrats in Congress to sell to U.S. enemies.
The newest reports claim that a group of Pakistani IT specialists, including Imran Awan stole equipment, nearly $6 million, and classified information from the U.S. government.
“The Awans were highly paid IT administrators working for dozens of House Democrats until Capitol Police began probing them earlier this year. The family is accused of stealing equipment from more than 20 congressional offices and accessing the House IT system without members’ knowledge,” writes WND.
In an interview with WND, Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa discussed how this shouldn’t be taken lightly and that the breach could have had detrimental effects.
“The American people deserve to know the truth to this; it is a big deal,” said King to WND. “It’s not just $6 or $7 million, $120,000 worth of equipment here or there. The biggest thing is that the brothers, Awan’s wife and friend all had access to the private emails and electronic communications of members of Congress and all their staff.”
King points out that it’s terrifying that the government has no idea what they downloaded and what classified information they were privy to.
“They’ve had access to all of the computers of about 60 Democratic House members. The access of that information would not have been limited. They would have had the passwords for all of those members of Congress,” said King.
Awan worked for Wasserman Schultz until July, while other Democrats he worked for dismissed him much earlier in the year due to suspicious behavior. Awan had worked for Wasserman Schultz for 13 years.
Then in July, he was arrested for attempting to flee to Pakistan after wiring $300,000 to his relative in Pakistan. The FBI arrested Awan at Dulles International Airport, where he was charged on four counts of bank fraud. He had $12,000 on him at the time of the arrest. He allegedly was part of a scheme that took almost $6 million from the government over the last few years.
Wasserman Schultz claims that Awan did not have access to any classified information.
“The argument is that there was no classified information that was compromised or breached – that’s what they said about Hillary Clinton at first,” said King. “Some of them – like Andre Carson served on the Select Committee on Intelligence – would have access to the highest level of classified information that we have in the United States Congress.”
King points out that Democrats who employed Awan put U.S. citizens in danger and that they need to re-evaluate their hiring practices.
“The GOP wants to put the government back on its rails again and operating efficiently. Democrats want to pull it down. When we hire people to work in our office, I want to make sure I am looking them in the eye. I want to know whose doing what work and what they’re going to get paid for that. That’s our jobs to do that,” said King. “Instead, they are funneling taxpayer dollars to people who, at a minimum, are not natural-born American citizens. If they’re sending money to Pakistan and absconding to Pakistan, they don’t have allegiance to the United States, either.”
So where did Awan share this classified information? Was it with ISIS? Or Russia?
What we do know is that Wasserman Schultz has not been cooperative in the FBI investigation.
“It’s not a new pattern for her – she refused to allow the FBI to look at the DNC computers when they wanted to investigate the Russian attempt to hack into the DNC – she hasn’t been held adequately accountable for that,” said King. “WikiLeaks had emails of Imran and his brothers. If you believe the Russians did the hacking, and they handed the emails over to WikiLeaks, that meant the Russians had access to a lot of information on Democrat House members. Democrats House members don’t want an investigation – they don’t want the public to find out what’s in the emails nor do they want Americans to know the facts about how they left their doors wide open to a group that’s at best, scam artists.”
Author’s note: This just proves that Wasserman Schultz and her team was even more corrupt than we thought. First, she was caught unfairly trying to get Hillary Clinton deemed as the DNC presidential nominee. Now, it appears that she had spies on her payroll all along that should have been thrown in jail a long time ago.
Editor’s note: The stupidity and incompetence of Debbie Wasserman-Schulz in this case is second perhaps only to Hillary’s 4-year stint when her classified emails were out in the open.
