Thousands of emails pertaining to Emmanuel Macron’s presidential campaign were leaked on May 5th, just two days before the French election.
Guillaume Poupard, head of the National Cybersecurity Agency of France (ANSSI), says the hack was “so generic and simple that it could have been practically anyone.” The hacker “could be in any country,” he added.
Despite a lack of evidence, the media was quick to point fingers at Russia – sound familiar??
Several media reports speculate that the hack was a last-ditch attempt by Russia to undermine Macron’s position (and therefore support right-wing opponent Marine Le Pen).
Macron accused RT and Russian news agency Sputnik of spreading false information about him, but his staff failed to provide examples.
“No traces of Russian hackers have been found in France,” said RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan. “You won’t find anything on Sputnik and RT as well, as nothing can be found. It’s in your mind.”
In the US, Russia has been blamed for the massive DNC hack that is believed to have played a role in Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump. Again, there is no evidence.
Everyone is quick to accuse Russia for these cyberattacks, but they are missing an important point: if a hacker is good at what he does, you will not know who has done it. Russia could be responsible for the Macron hacks and/or the DNC hacks; so could the Chinese, the Germans, the French, ISIS, or any one of a thousand independent groups.
Notice how the liberal media fails to cover this angle. They just won’t give Russia a break.
It will be interesting to see what happens in September when Germans go to the polls.
Editor’s note: The arrogane of the liberal media continues to amaze. What ever happened to checking your facts before you publish?
