A little more than 800 years ago, on a water-meadow alongside the River Thames, the signing of the Magna Carta enshrined the concept that an individual’s rights will never be threatened by despots. Just like King James, the aberrant, porcine former P.M. David Cameron has realized England will not bow down to oppressors – be they on thrones or in the boardrooms of Goldman Sachs and Deutche bank.
In a single voice, from the green cliffs of Swansea to the blue-collar factory towns of Merseyside, the British people have separated (some would say “Brexited”) from the failed experiment know as the European Union. Despite £250,000 donations from Citigroup and Morgan Stanley, despite £500,000 donations from American banks Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan, the purchased and artificial “remain” campaign has failed to incite enough illusions of fear among the British.
Lord Owen, the former Labour foreign secretary, said “The EU works in the interests of the elite – the one per cent – so it is entirely unsurprising to find that the campaign to keep us in the Union is financed by big banks like Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan.”
Much of the feigned fear preceding the “Brexit” vote was entirely unsurprising. It is entirely unsurprising that David Cameron,Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, who have all received millions of dollars from the world’s largest banks, would support a “remain” vote. It is entirely unsurprising that the 6 companies that own 90 percent of the world’s media, which also make endless donations to the bank purchased politicians, would almost unanimously stand against a “Brexit.”
Inundated with fear, nearly blinded by their leaders’ Orwellian untruths, the British people were still able to make a decision: regardless of the well paid for lies, regardless of a political system that’s more theatre than democracy, England will never give up its sovereignty and its dedication to representative government.
As Americans drown in the corporate lies about how a bank owned, war mongering failure at Secretary of State is the candidate of compassion, we need to recall how England stood up like David to Goliath and proudly announced that deception politics have failed. We will be told that sovereignty is synonymous with racist xenophobia, that our culture is something too vulgar to value, and that, once again, voting for a candidate not owned by banks is too dangerous. Cristopher Hitchens once said,” This is masochism. But it’s being offered to you by sadists.”
