Hillary Clinton has gone too far in her efforts to slander rival presidential candidate Donald Trump. During Saturday’s Democratic debate she claimed that the Republican frontrunner has become the “best recruiter” for ISIS. “They are going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists,” said Hillary during the debate.
An infuriated Trump was quick to respond. “She lies about everything!” he said during a recent episode of the Today Show. “You’re talking about people dying. You’re talking about making up tapes and videos which don’t exist.”
Donald Trump’s call to ban Muslims from entering America has sparked widespread criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike. But what Hillary said was way over the line. “She’s a liar and everybody knows that. She just made this up in thin air,” said Trump Sunday on Meet the Press.
Truth be told, Hillary has no evidence to support her claims. “She didn’t have a particular video in mind,” commented one of her spokespeople after the debate. Hillary’s team also cited a tweet about Donald Trump posted by a “very vocal ISIS supporter.”
To me, making that big of a claim based on one tweet shows that Hillary is looking for any excuse to tear support from the man who could be her biggest rival in the upcoming election.
“There are very few analysts who have watched all of ISIS’s videos,” says counterterrorism analyst Daveed Gartenstein-Ross. “That being said, I believe Hillary Clinton’s claim was false.”
