In this disturbing video, the Turkish police form a wall five men deep prevent what appears to be several thousand refugees in the Turkish area of Edirne from marching toward the Greek border. This is part of the chaos cause by the influx of (according to migrationpolicy.com) over 1.7 million Syrian Refugees since the start of the Syrian civil war.
We don’t have a lot of background on the video, but it appears the police are trying to contain the refugees. If they spill into Greece, they will make their way into other parts of Europe with no permission to work and no means to support themselves.
Turkey’s current population is just under 75 million, 1.7 millionrefugees is a huge burden, outnumbering the police by more than 3 to 1.
