U.S. Representative Bill Posey appeared in front of the House July 29th to shed light on the rumor that there may be a relationship between autism and the common MMR vaccine. He presented strong evidence that the CDC destroyed documents related to three vaccine safety studies proving such a relationship.
Posey’s evidence came from Dr. William Thompson, a scientist who last year admitted to fudging the numbers in three vaccine safety reports. Thompson has worked for the CDC since 1998.
Here is an excerpt from Thompson’s chilling confession (Aug 27th, 2014): “I regret that my coauthors and I omitted statistically significant information…the omitted data suggested that African American males who received the MMR vaccine before age 36 months were at increased risk for autism. Decisions were made regarding which findings to report…and I believe that the final study protocol was not followed.”
A recorded conversation between Dr. Thompson and one of those coauthors proves that that “a very large number of documents” regarding the study had been given to Bill Posey, a House Representative from Florida who serves as a member of the Science, Space, and Technology Committee.
There have been virtually no comments about the Thompson scandal in the media – until now. After reviewing nearly 100,000 pages of documents, Bill Posey finally appeared in front of the House on July 29th to speak about the ordeal.
Posey began his speech with the following statement, “I am absolutely, resolutely, pro-vaccine. Advancements in medical immunization have saved countless lives and greatly benefited public health,” but agreed that all parents should be able to trust Federal Agencies when making decisions about a child’s health.
Dr. Thompson and a whistleblower attorney worked together to provide Posey’s office with documents concerning a 2004 study examining the relationship between autism and the common MMR vaccine. In his speech, Posey quoted statements from Thompson that had been provided to his staff. It seems that Thompson’s team of scientists reviewed the data, agreed not to report any “race effects” related to the study, and burned all the documents.
Afraid of getting into trouble, Thompson kept hard and electronic copies of all the documents in his office. He would later say, “I believe we intentionally withheld controversial findings from the final draft of the Pediatrics paper.”
“I wish he’d address the larger issue,” said orthopedic surgeon Dr. Lee Hieb, “it’s about giving children under three years a massive does. You’re giving a child a whopping load when their immune system just isn’t ready.”
Posey also discussed the little-known Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, highlighting the troubling fact that the government has doled out more than $3 billion through this program in order to compensate parents for children injured through vaccinations.
These families are forced to wait years – sometimes decades – before receiving government help. All cases are processed through a federal “vaccine court” presided over by judges called “special masters.”
The Thompson situation led to an Associated Press (AP) investigation of the vaccine court. There were several problems, including the discovery that millions of taxpayer dollars are used to pay attorneys who practice “churning” – filing many claims at once regardless of quality. The attorney is paid no matter what the court decides.
“I believe it’s our duty to ensure that the documents Dr. Thompson provided are not ignored,” said Posey. “Therefore, I will provide them to members of Congress, and the House Committees upon request.” Posey ended his speech by requesting a “thorough investigation,” and begging the Speaker and his colleagues to take action.
