This Tuesday Rand Paul officially announced his bid for President of the United States in Louisville, Kentucky. During his announcement speech he gave insight to his vision for America’s future if he’s elected. His message was strong and bold as he outlined the difference between his mindset versus the mindset of those on Capitol Hill. He promised, “A message that is loud and clear and does not mince words,” and stated, “We’ve come to take our country back. We’ve come to take our country back from the special interests that use Washington as their personal piggy banks.” It’s not an unfamiliar message from Paul; it’s a similar rhetoric to what he used during his race for Senator.
A brief video of Senator Rand Paul released on Tuesday also reveals the direction of his presidential campaign and sheds light on his unique style and the approach he’ll take during his political career. In the video he says “a different type of Republican will take on Washington” and that it’s time for “a new set of ideas. A new leader- one you can trust. One who works for you. And above all, it’s time for a new President.”
Taking the anti-Washington crusader approach, Mr. Paul will ambitiously lead a campaign across 50 states with the goal of attracting new voters into the Republican Party. His goal is to compete in every primary election and caucus within all 50 states, all five territories and the District of Columbia, which is a task that only two GOP candidates accomplished in 2012. His campaign on defeating the Washington machine might bring great attention to the American public as the amount of supporters for the current President Obama has gone down since his election in 2012.
